climbing the highest temple in Bali- Penulisan

 The temple is enshrouded in a mist making it that more mystical.....and inviting

The temple at Penulisan ("author" in Indonesian, there are sacred texts at this temple) is set between two 
holy sites, Gunung Batur and Gunung Bratan.  Both have sacred waters in the volcano. (we canoed in the caldera  of Danau Batur) {see the map posting on a newer blog} Batur is still Very Active.

Both Dee and I agreed that this was a magical experience.  We had the temple to ourselves.  There were no harassing vendors /or guides that tend to make visiting the important temples very "unHoly"!

The name of the temple is Pura Puncak Penulisan.  It stands at 6000feet..... and we climbed upwards.....one step at a time.  It faces northward toward the coast at Singaraja (the Dutch originally colonized from there in the mid 19th century.

 no views on this day.......... but we knew that the  sacred mountains (volcanos) of central Bali were on either side of us.
